In My Dreams

Sometimes I whisper for help in my dreams, knowing help will never come

I awake living in a world where my dreams are illusions choking me

I answer yes or no as though they are the safe words, the only words to get me to tomorrow

I live on an emotional roller coaster, and I didn’t know it was the ride I chose

Sometimes I am buckled in a car, watching the world whirl by at super speed

Other times I am the track with the cars scraping the skin from my back like rolling teeth

Sometimes I whisper save me in my dreams, knowing salvation is not part of the plan

I forget I am alive sometimes until the searing pain jolts me awake and leaves me mangled on the floor

Sometimes I think you love me and other times you hate me because that is what you learned before us!

You learned subconscious hate in your pursuit of happily ever after!
