I Have Witnessed

I have witnessed sunsets before man had a name for them

I have danced in waterfalls while dinosaurs walked in the distance

The first creatures to crawl out of the ocean crawled over my footprints

I have watched the world change through eyes full of pain and glory

All was in balance until man began to emerge and think he was supreme

I have witnessed the rise and fall of civilizations greater than those of today

Greater because they lived in harmony with the earth

Wind, fire, water and earth were sacred to the people of old

Now they are casualties in a long line of atrocities scarring the planet

I have witnessed sunsets before the rise of man; now I shed tears as I watch the middle of man’s fall.
